Mariah Carey vs Michael Bublé — The Christmas Thaw on One Fight Card

Mariah Carey vs Michael Bublé is the bout for Halloween night. At midnight the costumes come off, the internet says Mariah is defrosting, and somebody always adds that Bublé is thawing out too. This post doesn't rank Christmas albums. On Instagram, when we checked on October 31, @mariahcarey had 15M followers and @michaelbuble had 5M. The card doesn't use that number either. Paste both handles on an Aura Duel card, read the gloves, and drop the /d/ link in the chat.

Qoks turns public creator signals into a fight ticket. It's a game. It doesn't count Christmas streams and it won't decide who owns December. The card answers a smaller question: whose Instagram aura is louder on the day you print?

Weigh-in: print the bout

  1. Open the prefilled card: @mariahcarey vs @michaelbuble on Instagram.
  2. Check that both platform chips say Instagram. Use the main accounts, not fan pages or tour accounts.
  3. Print. Each corner gets an overall aura and five glove scores out of 100.
  4. Share the /d/ link. Every ticket is stamped when it's printed, so a reprint on November 1 can move.

Pick your corner before the card loads. Calling it after the numbers show up doesn't count. If you're running this at a Halloween party, the influencer debate game has rules for points and penalties.

The five gloves (Growth and Chaos decide this one)

Followers aren't on the card. These are:

  • Growth: who is climbing right now. Watch this one first. More in growth aura.
  • Engagement: whether people answer the posts. More in engagement aura.
  • Consistency: who keeps posting on a steady beat. More in consistency aura.
  • Chaos: clip-and-send energy, the post that ends up in every group chat. Watch this one second. More in chaos aura.
  • Loyalty: whether people stick around between seasons. More in loyalty aura.

Why Growth? Both corners have a song or an album that comes back every winter. Mariah's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" came out in 1994 and didn't reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 until December 2019, 25 years later. It has spent 22 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, and in December 2024 it became the first holiday song to pass two billion Spotify streams. Bublé's Christmas album came out in October 2011, spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and had sold more than 16 million copies worldwide by January 2022. A card printed tonight catches both of them right before their busy season. A reprint in December might not look the same.

Why Chaos? The defrosting joke has been around since at least October 2017, according to Know Your Meme, and Mariah joined in on November 1, 2023. Her video shows people in Halloween costumes, one in a Scream mask, melting her out of a block of ice with hair dryers until she sings "It's time!" Know Your Meme counted over 4.3 million YouTube views for it in one week. Bublé is usually the second name in the joke. He also has a 2005 album called It's Time, which is a coincidence and nothing more.

Consistency is closer than the follower count. On October 31, @mariahcarey showed 3,134 posts and @michaelbuble showed 2,544, so Mariah has about 1.2 posts for every one of his. Post count isn't the same as rhythm, so let the card read it.

So: does a 3x follower lead turn into a Growth and Chaos win, or does Bublé's corner keep it close? Your print will tell you.

Overall wins the bout. If the overalls tie, it's a draw unless the room agreed on a tiebreak first (most gloves won is the usual one). Full scoring notes are in how to read an Aura Duel.

We aren't printing a Mariah Carey vs Michael Bublé score in this post, and we aren't picking a winner. Your ticket decides.

The Instagram house card (how a ticket reads)

Neither singer has a house poster yet. Instagram does: Rihanna vs Zendaya, the house exhibition at the top of the Instagram rivalries card.

On that exhibition card (labeled sample / heuristic), Zendaya takes the bout 44–53. Rihanna wins Growth 49–45 and Engagement 53–45. Zendaya wins Consistency 36–47, Chaos 39–73 and Loyalty 37–65. Every number is from the live /d/ page, and the footer says "Admit one · not a real ranking."

What to take from it: Rihanna, the music corner, won Growth by 4 and still lost by 9. Chaos went to Zendaya by 34, the biggest gap on the card. If your Mariah vs Bublé print splits Growth and Chaos, Chaos is the one that can swing the overall.

Those are Rihanna's and Zendaya's bars. They tell you nothing about Mariah or Bublé, so print the bout.

Why this pairing works

They already share a song. Bublé covered "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as the lead single of his Christmas album, released November 16, 2011, and it was the first cover of the song to make the Hot 100. Mariah was a guest on his NBC Christmas special on December 18, 2013. The day after Halloween is her album's birthday too: Merry Christmas came out on November 1, 1994. The follower gap (about 10M) is big enough that people screenshot it and small enough that it doesn't end anything. Who is more popular explains why the card reads signals, not headcount, and how to compare two influencers covers comparing any two accounts by hand.

Want more music on the same app? Try Taylor Swift vs Beyoncé. Still in Halloween mode? There's Jenna Ortega vs Millie Bobby Brown on Instagram and CoryxKenshin vs Markiplier on YouTube. Seed an influencer bracket with Mariah, Bublé and the rest of the Instagram rivalries card and send the winners through.

Roast the bars, not the people

Keep it on the card. Tease a low Consistency bar or brag about a big Chaos number. Leave private lives out of it, and don't post a losing ticket in either singer's comments. House rules: Aura Duel is a roast, not hate. Ways to share without being weird about it: how to share an Aura Duel.

FAQ

Who wins Mariah Carey vs Michael Bublé on Aura Duel?
Whoever has the higher overall aura on the card you print. There's no house poster for this pair, so paste @mariahcarey and @michaelbuble on /fight, set both chips to Instagram, and let that ticket decide.
Who has more Instagram followers, Mariah Carey or Michael Bublé?
Mariah Carey. When we checked on October 31, 2026, @mariahcarey showed 15M followers and @michaelbuble showed 5M. Followers aren't a glove on the card, though.
Which gloves should I watch?
Growth and Chaos. Growth is who is climbing right now, and both of these accounts climb in November and December. Chaos is clip-and-send energy, and the defrosting meme is pure Chaos. Overall still picks the winner.
What is the Mariah Carey defrosting meme?
It's a running internet joke that Mariah Carey, and often Michael Bublé, thaw out of the ice when Halloween ends and Christmas music comes back. On November 1, 2023, Mariah posted her own version, a video of people in Halloween costumes melting her out of a block of ice with hair dryers before she sings "It's time!"
Can I use the Rihanna vs Zendaya numbers?
No. That's the Instagram house exhibition, 44–53 Zendaya. It shows how an Instagram ticket reads. Mariah and Bublé get their own bars when you print.
Is this a real ranking of Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé?
No. Aura Duel is a playful fight card built from public signals. House posters say sample / heuristic when a platform blocks a live scrape, and every /d/ page footer reads "Admit one · not a real ranking."
